AN EXCITING NEW RESTAURANT BY THE TEAM BEHIND BALI’S ICONIC GINGER MOON CANTEEN & JACKSON LILY’S

BALI, INDONESIA – TEMPLE by Ginger Moon opened on the 6th April 2023. Situated in a prime location, in South Beach, on Kuta’s main strip. After a major transformation, the previous space has been reimagined to give the feeling of a temple within a temple. In the middle of a lush tropical setting sits a family temple, hundreds of years old.

The colours of the temple – grey stone, red brick, the gold of the “wastra” and the many shades of greens from the garden have been repeated throughout the restaurant proper and in the theatrical open kitchen. The scent of coffee wood burning in the kitchen and the enchanting aroma of Bali spice permeates the air, the aura of TEMPLE by Ginger Moon is overwhelmingly Bali. TEMPLE is both mystical and magical with equal measure.

Chef Dean and his team famously showcase “Bali on a Plate” and are thrilled to be able to bring this philosophy to South Beach. The food and beverages at TEMPLE by Ginger Moon embrace the best the island has to offer, combined with Bali’s famously convivial hospitality this is a place of happy times and fond memories.

INDONESIANS & FOOD

A word from Ibu Baya:

“Indonesians love to eat, and if we aren’t eating, then we are snacking. It is no secret that Mother’s (Ibu) in Indonesia express the love they have for their families and communities through food, this love is something you can taste, it is what makes the lucky people on the receiving end of the meal smile and their hearts content.

I, along with my husband, Chef Dean and our children Jackson & Lily, look forward to sharing our love of food, family, hospitality, and Bali with all that visit us.

The Backstory

Ibu Baya is the wife and partner of Australian Chef, Restaurateur, Author, and humanitarian, Dean Keddell.

Dean’s distinctive cuisine at Ginger Moon Canteen is best described as “Asian Innovation”- creative, exciting, fun variations of the classic dishes of Indonesia.

Jackson Lily’s (named after the couple’s children) follows these same lines but is a more of a West meets East experience and takes in food influences from Dean’s Chef’s Journey – he has spent many years travelling and working in diverse, far-flung locations.

TEMPLE by Ginger Moon sees Ibu Baya take at the reigns in her first roll as a restaurant owner. With Chef Dean keeping a watchful eye on proceedings, and the overwhelming Bali influences throughout, this is surely a restaurant experience not to be missed.

Dean is renowned for creating unique and memorable dining experiences. And all three of these Bali restaurants are a haven for those who appreciate and celebrate the diversity of Bali and all this wonderful island has to offer.
