Wasuka Arts: Enter the Dragon

The upcoming Lunar New Year belongs to the Dragon, the only mythological creature amongst the twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac, and regarded as the most powerful and auspicious. For international award-winning artist Lok Kerk Hwang, signature member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS), it is a most opportune time to present his fifth solo exhibition Enter The Dragon. Its Chinese title 龍騰龖龘 (lóng téng dá dá) describes many high-spirited dragons soaring and prancing in the sky.
The show highlights iconic visual elements of Chinese civilization, such as dragon and lion statues in dramatic poses, and auspicious red lanterns, inspired by Kerk Hwang's visits to Chinese temples in Singapore, Malaysia, China, and Taiwan. Dragons have long represented imperial power and authority, but also connote prosperity and good luck as a spiritual and cultural symbol of the Chinese.
Admission to Lok Kerk Hwang’s ‘Enter the Dragon’ exhibition is free.
