Award-Winning from the Start: Lulu Bistrot’s Swift Rise to the Top of Bali’s Dining Scene

Lulu Bistrot in Canggu celebrates two years of casual elegance and culinary flair, backed by major awards that mark it as one of Bali and Indonesia’s best-loved restaurants.

Bali, Indonesia – 20 May 2025 – In just two years since its debut in mid-2023, Lulu Bistrot has become a standout name in Bali’s buzzing dining scene, offering French cuisine without the fuss, casual elegance, and exceptional service in the heart of Canggu.

Named after founder Rafael Nardo’s son, who was born during the restaurant’s development, Lulu Bistrot is deeply personal at its core. With influences from Rafael’s Brazilian roots and global career, and his wife’s French Caribbean background, the restaurant cleverly mixes European sensibilities with the tropical charm of Bali.

French culinary tradition is reimagined through the lens of Indonesian ingredients and artisanship, with a team composed entirely of Indonesian chefs and mixologists.

The result is a menu and atmosphere that feel elevated yet approachable — not a fusion, but a conversation between cultures, anchored in precision, soul, and a deep respect for excellent service.

That distinctive spirit hasn’t gone unnoticed. Most recently, Lulu Bistrot was recognized in the inaugural Prestige Gourmet Awards 2025 — a new culinary benchmark launched by luxury lifestyle magazine, Prestige Indonesia.

Nearly 30 judges from various industries took part in the selection process, choosing just 30 restaurants nationwide for their standout dining experiences.

Lulu Bistrot’s inclusion reflects its achievements across a range of criteria, from the quality and innovation of its menus to overall guest experience.

In addition to national recognition, Lulu Bistrot was listed in Tatler Asia’s 100 Best Restaurants of 2024

This prestigious annual selection celebrates restaurants that blend masterful techniques with personality and flair, and exemplify world-class standards in both F&B and service — qualities that have helped Lulu quickly earn a loyal following.

Further cementing its reputation in Bali’s dynamic hospitality scene, Lulu Bistrot featured in an April 2025 guide to the 25 Best Restaurants in Bali by travel and lifestyle platform Honeycombers

Describing it as “an evening in Paris without leaving Bali,” the editor praised the restaurant’s “elegant and classy” dining room and recommended signature dishes such as Oysters au Naturel, Terrine de Campagne, and Lamb Bourguignon.

At the heart of Lulu Bistrot’s rise is Rafael’s unwavering passion for hospitality done right.

After years in Bali’s fast-paced dining scene, he envisioned a space that brought back genuine, personal connection between host and guest.

That foundation remains central to Lulu’s charm.

“From the start, Lulu was all about creating a place that felt good — where people can enjoy great food, great company, and feel truly looked after,” said Rafael.

“Receiving these awards and recognition means a great deal to us, as both a tribute to our hard work and a symbol of trust from our guests, community, and the wider hospitality industry. As we continue to grow, we’re committed to maintaining that same level of care and consistency that defines Lulu. These awards are just the beginning of what we aim to build.”
